LITANY OF FEAR

The book Dune reveals what the author calls the “Litany of Fear.”

I’m doing this from memory so I hope it is correct. “Fear is the mind killer; fear is the little death. I will let my fear pass over me; only I will remain.”

What a powerful message to remind us that even though we might be afraid, we are more than our fears.

Again, the literature of recovery tells us that all of our internal difficulties come from self-centered fear. Spiritually, fear is a holding on, whereas love is a releasing and a letting go.

My fearful little ego is just that, fearful. It lives in a perpetual state of fear: “Will they love me; will this be good enough; what will happen if…”

Sometimes I just need to stop and remember the words of Jesus, “Fear not little flock, I have overcome the world.”

You have fear, but you are not your fear. Let go into the safety of unconditional love.
