PALM SUNDAY
As a kid I always thought Palm Sunday was such a trip. The way the triumphal entry into Jerusalem was described. I could feel it. People yelling a screaming, tearing palm branches down and tossing them in the road, and even throwing their cloaks down on the ground crying out, “Hosanna to the Son of David.” My recollections come way before “Jesus Christ Superstar,” yet my memories have some of that same flavor.
Then, disaster—arrest, humiliation and death. What happened?
“Seek ye first the Kingdom of Heaven, and all things else will follow.”

The lesson for me here is a very powerful one. The events of Palm Sunday, unlike Easter, were based on externals. The whole scene was based on a set of false expectations. Palm Sunday is a celebration of what happiness is not. It’s like watching a sad play that we already know the ending. We already know the happiness the joy the shouts and laughter are hollow.
Jesus said that His kingdom was not of this world, and he also told us the Kingdom is within you. Do not lose your power to externals in the material world, fame, fortune, or the praise of others. Do not base your happiness or security on things that can change. Do not 3ven become too attached to what you think happiness is. Feelings change. They are sometimes as fickle as the weather.
