SEPARATION FROM GOD?

I heard someone say, “If you feel far away from God, who moved?”

Very clever, and very UNTRUE.

First of all, God does not move. Secondly, and even more importantly, as Paul reminds us, “Nothing can separate you from the love of God.”

Feelings are important, they are a very necessary part of life here on Planet Earth. They need to be felt, honored and processed, and there might be times when we need human help to do that.

A wise person once stated, “Feelings are not facts.” They are not a barometer of our spiritual state. There are times when I will “feel” close to God and the Source of Love and other times when I will not. It’s nice to have those good feelings, but when those good feelings are not present, that does not mean God is not present. As over-processed as it might be, that little poem about “Footprints in the Sand” is very true. God and God’s love are always with you no matter how you feel.
